To make it easier for people in Wolverhampton to access and complete their Covid-19 vaccinations, walk-in clinics have opened in the city this week, with more to follow.
We are urging all parents and household members who are 18 and over to get their vaccination. And now that there has been an announcement from the Secretary of State for Health, that from 16 August, fully vaccinated adults in England will not have to self-isolate if they are a close contact of a positive case, this will make a huge difference to people being able to enjoy the summer.
Covid-19 infection rates are rising sharply and, with Government indicating it will ease social restrictions later this month, it is vital that as many people as possible have their vaccinations as soon as possible.
There are walk-in clinics offering first or second dose vaccinations without needing to book. Both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines are available at most clinics, subject to stock on the day.
Locations this week include:
Aldersley Leisure Village, WV6 9NW, today (Tuesday 6 July) until Thursday, 9.30am-7pm
Alfred Squire Health Centre, Wednesfield WV11 1XU, today (Tuesday 6 July) noon–8pm
Whitmore Reans Health Centre WV6 0QL, Thursday (8 July), noon–8pm
Keats Grove Surgery WV10 8LY, Friday and Saturday (9 and 10 July), 8am–7pm.
More clinics are added regularly and further dates, times and locations can be found at www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/local-vaccine.
These are in addition to the vaccine bus, which this week will be in the Stan Cullis Stand car park at the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Molineux Stadium, on Thursday (8 July) between 1pm and 7pm, then 11am until 6pm from Friday to Sunday (9-11 July).
Wolverhampton’s walk-in vaccination locations are in addition to pre-bookable clinics, with appointments available online at www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine or by calling NHS 119.
Latest figures show there were 203.1 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Wolverhampton over the seven days to 4 July. That means 534 people in the city tested positive for the virus in that seven day period – though the true number of new cases will likely be higher.
Thank you to you all for playing your part at this crucial time.
