Children in Need

November 20, 2019

To raise money and awareness for BBC Children in Need, we came to school in our sports wear and took part in 'The Big Morning Move' hosted by Joe Wicks!

It was tiring but we all managed to complete it. As well as this, as a school we held 'The Great Loxdale Bake-off'. We all had the opportunity to take part, we had to bake cakes at home and then bring them in to be judged.

Luckily, we all then were able to buy cakes in the bake sale after school. One of the children in Year 5 won the 'Disney' category with her entry.

Well done Year 5!

Anti-Bullying Week

November 15, 2019

During Anti-Bullying Week, we have worn our 'odd socks' to celebrate how everyone is unique and taken part in a fantastic workshop by Loudmouth.

We have enjoyed learning lots about Anti-Bullying and will continue to do so throughout this term in PSHE.

We have also taken home our 'respect' posters which we made to remind ourselves of how special we are!

Tim Peake

November 11, 2019

Today in Year 5 we have been learning lots about Tim Peake and what life was like in the ISS (International Space Station). We have really enjoyed the first part of our workshop and we are really looking forward to creating our own diary entries and filming them using a green screen in our next workshop in a few weeks!

Smoothie Bikes

October 24, 2019

Today we have had loads of fun in Y5, we have had the opportunity to take part in a Smoothie Workshop, which involved healthy fruit and exercise! We made fruit kebabs which were very tasty, then we had to create smoothies using fruit, fruit juice and honey! Then came the hard part, we blended our smoothies together using a bike! It was actually great fun- yet very tiring!

Cultural Week: Benjamin Zephaniah

October 21, 2019

To celebrate Cultural Week, we have been looking at some of Benjamin Zephaniah's poetry, to gather inspiration to write our own by the end of the week. Today we practised performing poetry to help us understand the rhythm.

Guitar Heroes

October 17, 2019

Some of Year 5 are very fortunate and have the opportunity to play guitar with Mr Kelly who is a music specialist. They have a session with him every week and will be learning lots of new skills! We are looking forward to seeing them progress throughout the year!
