Half Term Residential Experience (at home)

May 20, 2020

Hi everyone, with holidays cancelled and residential trips not going ahead, we have found a great resource for you to use over the holidays with your child. It is a safe and enjoyable way for children to enjoy the great outdoors (or indoors) and we really hope you enjoy using it together. In this activity, children can build a den or pitch a tent then enjoy a variety of activities just as if they were on a real residential trip. You can  do this inside or outside, with lots of fun for the whole family.

The attached timetable gives an example timetable for half term week as well as some great resources that can be used to support your half-term experience. Don’t forget, timings are flexible and you can follow the timetable to suit your family.

Happy residential everyone!!!! J

Tuesday Update

May 04, 2020

It is lovely to finally see a couple of our Year 6 children at home.  Christ is fully engrossed in his schoolwork and science experiments and Sam has been busy working, reading and running, with friends and mum, for our wonderful NHS staff to help them get hand cream and calculators. They raised over £1700. Good job to all who took part.  Can't wait to see you all in person.

Stay safe.

Safer Internet Day

February 12, 2020

Following safer internet day on Tuesday, where we discovered lots about our identity in 'real life' and online (and how they can be so different), we were lucky enough to see our knowledge in action today thanks to the Saltmine Theatre Company! As you can see from the pictures of the performance, the show was hilarious and had us all in fits of laughter! However, the serious message from the performance is what we will all take home with us...Sarah, an innocent 11 year old girl, who wanted to explore her local forest, was lured in to Wilf's (the wolf's) grasp and very nearly got her self into lots of danger! Luckily, Sarah remembered the third rule that her mother gave her - shout for a trusted adult when you're in trouble! Even through Sarah veered off the safety path and gave away personal details to Wilf (which made it easy for him to find her and manipulate her), her trusted adult (Mom) was able to help when Sarah called for her. It's important to know that Sarah's Mom set the rules to make sure that Sarah was safe, but in her time of need, would not be angry, but instead help her, protect her, and let her know that it is not her fault that she got into a sticky and dangerous situation!

After the thrilling performance, we discussed how to keep ourselves on the path of safety whilst using the internet and the steps we might need to take if there ever comes a time that we veer off that path. We have been able to see first hand how our decisions about how we handle things online can impact others and keep them safe too!

Remember the rules:

1. Do not leave the path of safety!

2. Do not give out any personal details!

3. If in doubt, shout for a trusted adult!

and last but not least...
