School Councillors met once again this week, they were discussing themes for our ‘Great Loxdale Bake off’. Also we talked about our forth-coming non-uniform days and when we are having them and what the children and staff would be asked to wear and what to donate for our Christmas fair!
In addition to this, we discussed when we are releasing the winners for the naming and logo of the old Friends of Loxdale Competition.
Keep your eyes peeled for the winners!

School Council: Logo Judging
October 24, 2019
Excitedly, this week, the School Council judged the ‘Friends of Loxdale’ logo entries and name competition. The School Council thought that the entries were all beautiful designs; some were chosen to be short-listed by School Council.
Mrs Scott and Mr Hill; Chair of Governors, will complete the final judging on Friday. School Council have really enjoyed judging the designs and name ideas, we still have more coming soon like the Loxdale’s Great Bake-off!

Bringing It Back
September 29, 2019
Here at Loxdale, we have been enjoying a new structure to our lunch times at the new school. We have been playing nostalgic games such as 'Cat and Mouse', 'In and out the dusty blue bells' and 'Stuck in the mud'. With the help of our play leaders we have been skipping and playing lots of team building games. Please take a look at our fun pictures.
Team Building Day
July 02, 2019
Year 5 had a very exciting (and wet) day on Thursday. We took part in a team building session. Together we had to collect water in a bucket and pass it along the line over our heads to make it to another bucket without spilling any, we had to build a passage from a village to a reservoir without allowing any of the water to leak out, we played 'hot potato' with water balloons and used resilience and teamwork to have a go on the dry ski's. The best part was the soapy, slippery slide which was great! It was a fantastic way to develop our team building skills and we had so much fun getting wet and soaking each other (including our teachers!). Take a look at our photographs to see how much fun we had.
Year 2 have been looking at 'The Queen's Hat', a story written by Steve Anthony during their literacy lessons. Working with their partners they have reimagined the story, writing their own versions. Today they are using the iPads to create animations based on their fantastic stories!
Year 4 Olaf the Viking
June 24, 2019
On Friday, year 4 were visited by Olaf, the Viking. We had the pleasure of learning all about different aspects of life during the Viking era including where they lived, what they wore, how they traded and most importantly, how they battled. We had the opportunity to look at artefacts such as the world map, coins, reindeer horns and battle armour. We took a trip on a longboat and recreated the battle between the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons where we learnt about strategies they would have used to protect themselves.
We shared our own knowledge and understanding (we know so much!) which Olaf helped us to clarify and extend. It was so much fun that we decided to become Vikings ourselves. We made solemn vows to the Viking Gods to become the best Vikings we could! We had such a great day!
Thank you to all the family and friends that came to encourage the year 4 children in our class assembly this afternoon. We were very nervous but we hope you enjoyed learning about Vikings and hearing our interpretation of the Lindisfarne raid. We were proud to share our diary entry, which was an amalgamation of all our pieces of writing, and hopefully show you a section of history that you had not heard of before.
