Year 3 have been looking at food packaging and designing their own nets in D&T.

Year 5 Pine have developed their portraits this week, experimenting with materials and techniques. Some excellent art work, Year 5! Well done!

Year 4 Spruce won a token to the vending machine as they were the winning class in the attendance battle last week. They won a board game afternoon. Attendance matters!

🍪 Year 4 Spruce turned into star bakers yesterday. They had great fun sieving flour, mixing ingredients, and combining everything to make delicious biscuits. Lots of teamwork, smiles, and a sprinkle of flour everywhere! 👏✨

As a reminder, we break up for half term tomorrow (Friday 13th February). We then have an INSET Day on 23rd February, so we’re looking forward to welcoming children back to school on Tuesday 24th February. We hope all of you will enjoy a lovely half term holiday, we can’t wait to hear about what you got up to! ❤️

What a fun last week we have had in Reception Willow before the half term. We have been celebrating Valentine's day and have had lots of fun themed activities. We have also been working on our physical development and had a game of class bowling. We have had lots of fun. Have a lovely half term.

Yesterday, Year 4 Rowan rolled up their sleeves and stepped into the world of baking! The classroom was filled with excitement (and a lovely sweet smell!) as the children worked together to make their very own biscuits. They started by weighing out their ingredients carefully, making sure everything was measured just right. Next came the sifting—a messy but very fun moment as flour floated like tiny snowflakes! This week, Year 1 Ash have been superstars exploring how to look after our minds  and how to stay safe online  💛💻 ✨ We talked about what makes our Mental Jars  feel full ✨ We created our own Mind Ponds ✨ We also celebrated how humans are all wonderfully different , and how we can use our voices to ask for help, share ideas, and show kindness — even when we’re talking to voice assistants ! ✨ And of course, we learned the importance of being safe online and knowing what to do

This term during P.E both of our year 5 classes have been choreographing and practicing their own dances to "The greatest show" from The greatest showman musical film. As part of their dance topic. They have all shown incredible creativity, teamwork and communication! We are very proud of how well they have done, we enjoyed watching their final performance this week! Today, Year 2 Oak took part in Safer Internet Day , and we had a fantastic time learning all about how to stay safe online. The children explored what AI (Artificial Intelligence) is and why it’s important to use technology responsibly. We talked about how AI can help us but also why we must always make sensible choices when using devices and the internet.

To recognise the importance of Safer Internet Day, Year 5 Pine have developed their knowledge of AI usage and assessed the risk to ensure they use it safely.

This term in Science in Year 3 we are learning all about rocks and fossils. Last week, we became palaeontologists and looked at how fossils are formed. We now know the conditions needed for fossils to form and how this process works. Ask us all about it!

Year 4 Rowan have been loving  their dance unit inspired by The Greatest Showman ! 🎪✨ Throughout the unit, the children have explored a range of dance skills, including using props, working in different formations, experimenting with levels, and performing in canon  and unison . Yesterday, a group of our Year 3 and 4 learners visited Moseley Park School to compete in a basketball tournament. The children played excellently as a team and showed fantastic Romeo Resilience! Due to their amazing COJOE characteristics the children came third place in the competition! Well done Team Loxdale!!

During this week we learnt how to code crumble boards to make a carousel, we used a motor, sparkle board and a switch. We also got to design our own carousel, take a look at how we got on.

A huge congratulations to Jack and Trishdip, who have become the first Year 4 pupils this year to earn their Pen Licence! 🎉 Their handwriting has shown outstanding consistency, care, and pride — and we are so proud of their hard work and perseverance.

Year 2 Oak had a wonderful time this week in art. We went on a texture hunt. We then practised new painting methods to recreate the textures that we had found. Take a look.

This week it is Year 5 Pine’s computing week. We have been using a software called Crumble to program kits using a motor, light and sensor. 💻

On Monday and Tuesday, the class took part in an exciting Computing Day where pupils put their coding skills to the test. They worked through a series of programming challenges, using block-based and text-based coding to design, build, and control their very own robots. It was a fun, hands‑on experience that helped everyone grow in confidence and creativity while exploring the world of robotics.

This week year 6 have been using the gymnastic equipment in the hall during their PE lessons. They have used the climbing frame, balance beams and ropes. They have also been practising their balancing skills.

Year 4 Rowan had a fantastic time exploring the great outdoors today. They investigated trees and leaves, using their senses to notice shapes, colours, textures, and even the smells of nature around them. This hands-on experience linked beautifully to their literacy work, inspiring descriptive writing full of rich vocabulary and sensory detail. What better way to bring words to life than by stepping outside and experiencing the world first-hand?
