This week in Art the children have enjoyed learning how to wool wrap! They have used different colours and found they needed to helped each other as this was a little bit tricky! Well done Elm, you all showed super resilience.

Today we have started to think about problem solving! We have used the shaped to make a picture and then work out the parts and whole by putting them on the bar model. Well done everyone!

Elm had a fantastic time at sports day. Everyone tried their best and enjoyed all the track and field events! The sprint final was nail biting! Well done to all of Elm!

What an exciting and energetic Sports Day for Year 1 Ash! 🌟 Our amazing pupils showed fantastic enthusiasm, teamwork and determination in every event. We are so proud of every child for their effort, resilience and positive attitude throughout the day. It was wonderful to see such encouragement and teamwork from all! 💚 A big well done to Year 1 Ash – you were all superstars! 🌟👏

Year 1 Elm have been on a tree hunt! We have been looking at leaves in Science and today with our partners we tried to find as many different trees as we could. We found Horse Chestnut, Oak and Silver birch tress.

Elm have been refining their DT cutting skills this week, making their wheels and axels for a moving toy.

Last week, One Elm won the attendance award! Everyone was treated to a hot chocolate, which was yummy! Well done One Elm, keep it up!

Year one Elm have loved practising their doubles on National Numeracy Day! We all had lots of fun exploring different activities in the classroom.

Today, Year 1 Ash had a fantastic time celebrating National Numeracy Day! 🔢✨ We explored numbers through fun activities, with a special focus on doubles! The children enjoyed spotting and making doubles, using practical resources, games, and quick challenges to help them see patterns (double 2 is 4, double 5 is 10, and so on!). We loved spotting patterns and building confidence in maths—well done everyone! 👏

Year 1 Ash had an exciting computer programming day with Mr Ashton, exploring coding using Scratch 🐱The children did a fantastic job creating their own sequences, learning how to give clear instructions and bring their ideas to life on screen. We’re so proud of their creativity, focus, and growing confidence with technology — brilliant work, Year 1! 👏🌟

A huge well done to all the children in Year 1 Elm who took part in our Easter Egg Decorating Competition! We were blown away by the creativity, colours and imaginative designs the children brought to life. From funny characters to beautiful patterns, every egg was a joy to see! A big congratulations to everyone who took part — you all worked so hard and should be very proud of your amazing creations.

Yesterday, Year 1 Ash had a fantastic art lesson inspired by the vibrant and imaginative work of designer Clarice Cliff and her famous Bizarre Ware! 🟠🔵🌈 The children explored Cliff’s bold patterns, bright colours, and quirky shapes before creating their own wonderfully “bizarre” designs. From swirling landscapes to eye-catching geometric patterns, their creativity absolutely shone! 🎨💡

This week, Year 1 Ash have been superstars exploring how to look after our minds and how to stay safe online 💛💻 ✨ We talked about what makes our Mental Jars feel full ✨ We created our own Mind Ponds ✨ We also celebrated how humans are all wonderfully different, and how we can use our voices to ask for help, share ideas, and show kindness — even when we’re talking to voice assistants! ✨ And of course, we learned the importance of being safe online and knowing what to do if s

Year 1 Elm enjoyed a fantastic Christmas party. The children had lots of fun playing party games, singing and dancing and eating some very delicious food. They also met Santa ! 🎁🎉

Today was all about Christmas Jumper Day – and wow, did Year 1 Ash bring the sparkle! From jingling bells to cheeky elves, our jumpers were brighter than the Christmas lights. 🌟 After showing off our festive fashion, we sat down for a Christmas lunch feast – turkey, roasties, and even sprouts (yes, some brave little elves gave them a try! 🥦). The classroom was filled with laughter, full tummies, and plenty of cheer. What a magical way to kick off December! 🎄💫
