Wow what a fantastic, busy week we have had in Reception Willow. This week we celebrated Diwali and had a fantastic day learning all about the celebration of Diwali and traditions, we also got to try some Samosas. We all really enjoyed them. We hope you all have a fantastic half term and stay safe whatever you are doing.

Year 2 Oak had a fantastic afternoon learning and celebrating Diwali. We looked at why Diwali is celebrated and then looked at how diya lamps are used to support the celebration. We then made our diya lamps in many different ways. To end our celebrations we got to taste a samosa, it was delicious! 🪔🎆

We have an exciting opportunity for parents to become more involved in the life of our school by joining the Governing Board as a Parent Governor. The Governing Board plays a vital role in setting the school’s vision, supporting and challenging its work, and ensuring accountability. We are seeking nominations from parents or carers who are interested in helping the school continue to thrive. You do not need to be an expert in education – just bring your interest in the school

Year 3 have had a fantastic day today with Mr Ashton from EngagedU. We have used Lego Spike kits to build and code Lego to follow a set of instructions to complete a task. We programmed sensors and motors to make our creations light up and move. Ask us all about it!

Our Year 5 historians have been hard at work this week investigating Viking trading routes - exploring what goods were traded and the impact this had on communities. Using maps, they traced the key trading routes and identified the items exchanged across regions. Our wonderful Year 3 children have been busy celebrating the season of gratitude and giving with a joyful performance of Harvest Samba ! Take a look here!

Year 1 Ash won the attendance clash last week, which means we got the chance to go to the vending machine! Our special treat for the day is a mini disco - a great way to finish off the week in Ash Class.
